Originally known as Security Abstract Co. and located in the county seat of Montague, TX, since the 1940s, Cross Timbers Title Company, Inc.’s title plant was purchased from the Robert Ryan family and relocated to Bowie, TX, under the name of Service Title Company in 1978. Cross Timbers Title Company was formed in November 1982 when the records and files were purchased by Carla Hamilton Swofford, and has continued to operate under her ownership till date.

Our company consists of a sovereignty plant with original handwritten docket entries that are more than 120 years old in tract books and card files with 25 years of computer data entries.
